Church Bulletins

Got this from a friend...some of them are cute. Thanks Dean and Missy.

Subject: Church Bulletins

Church Bulletins They're Back! Those wonderful Church Bulletins! Thank God for church ladies with typewriters. These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.

The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water." The sermon tonight: "Searching for Jesus."

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community.

Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.

Miss Charlene Mason sang "I will not come this way again," giving obvious pleasure to many in the congregation.

For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

Next Thursday there will be try outs for the choir. They need all the help they can get.

Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.

Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.

The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.

Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00 PM - prayer and medication to follow.

The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Sunday.

Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back door.

Weight Watchers will meet at 7 PM at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.

The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7 PM. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.

Pastor Updyke unveiled the church's new tithing campaign slogan last Sunday with the slogan: "I Upped My Pledge - Up Yours"

We is friends...

Thought this was cute.

Shoplifting Seagull

This is true... I checked it out on snopes.
A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing chips from a neighborhood shop.

The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn't looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos.

Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds.

The seagull's shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in Aberdeen, Scotland, and helped himself to a bag of chips. Since then, he's become a regular. He always takes the same type of chips.

Customers have begun paying for the seagull's stolen bags of chips because they think it's so funny.

Favorites

These two are my favorites: The AR-15 and the Glock 21. The Hubby has a story he likes to tell his buddies. When he got the 45mm it was suppose to be for him. He bought me the 9mm. But after shooting the Glock 21 I told him that I was taking the 45. You would think that the bigger calibur would have more of a kick but not so with the Glock 21. It was so smooth it became my favorite pistol. And of course without question the AR-15 is my all time favorite.

Friendship Ball

Here it goes. Throw it back to someone who means something to you!

A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end. It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends. But the treasure inside for you to see is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.

Today I pass the friendship ball to you.

Pass it on to someone who is a friend to you.

MY OATH TO YOU...

When you are sad.....I will dry your tears.

When you are scared.....I will comfort your fears.

When you are worried.....I will give you hope.

When you are confused.....I will help you cope.

And when you are lost....And can't see the light, I shall be your beacon.....Shining ever so bright.

This is my oath.....I pledge till the end.

Why you may ask?.....Because you're my friend.

Signed: GOD

Do I Make You Proud

Do I make you proud lyrics by Taylor Hicks.
Taylor Hicks Americal Idol 2006

I've never been the one to raise my hand,
That was not me and now that's who I am

Because of you I am standing tall,
My heart is full of endless gratitude,
You were the one, the one to guide me through,
Now I can see and I believe it's only just beginning

Chorus-
This what we dream about
but the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I've ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

I guess I've learned, to question is to grow
That you still have faith, is all I need to know
I've learned to love, myself in spite of me
And I've learned to walk, the road that I believe

This what we dream about
but the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I've ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

Everybody needs to rise up
Everybody needs to be loved, to be loved

This what we dream about
but the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I've ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

This what we dream about
but the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I've ever been NOW
Never been afraid of standing out
But do I make you proud

Do I make you proud?
Do I make you proud?

Make sure you pause the music on the right hand side of my blog before starting the video.

Dueling Computers

I got this from a fellow home schooler in my email this morning and thought it was worth posting...

Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.

Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job."

So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.

They moused.

They faxed.

They e-mailed.

They e-mailed with attachments.

They downloaded.

They did spreadsheets!

They wrote reports.

They created labels and cards.

They created charts and graphs.

They did some genealogy reports

They did every job known to man.

Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.

Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off..

Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.

Jesus just sighed.

Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming:

"It's gone! It's all GONE! "I lost everything when the power went out!"

Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.

Satan observed this and became irate.

"Wait!" he screamed. "That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?"

God just shrugged and said,

JESUS SAVES

Coming Home

I thought this song was beautiful. On my music to the right hand side of my blog you can click on the song to hear it. Or you can hear it at The Holliday web site of a fallen soldier. There is a beautiful tribute to their son there.

Coming Home
lyrics by John Legend.

A father waits upon a son
A mother prays for his return
I just called to see
If you still have a place for me

We know that like took us apart
But you're still within my heart
I go to sleep and feel your spirit next to me

I'll make it home again
I pray you'll fall in love again
Just say you'll entertain the possibility
I learned enough from my mistakes
Learned from all I didn't say
Won't you wait for me

It may be long to get me there
It feels like I've been everywhere
But someday I'll be coming home
Round and round the world will spin
Oh, the circle never ends
So you know that I'll be coming home

We fight to stay alive
But somebody's got to die
It's so strange to me
A new year, a new enemy

Another soldier gone to war
Another story told before
Now it's told again
It seems the wars will never end

But we'll make it home again
Back where we belong again
We're holding on to when
We used to dare to dream
We pray we live to see
Another day in history
Yes we still believe

It may be long to get me there
It feels like I've been everywhere
But someday I'll be coming home
Round and round the world will spin
Oh, the circle never ends
So you know that I'll be coming home

I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming
You know that I'll be coming home

It may be long to get me there
It feels like I've been everywhere
But someday I'll be coming home
Round and round the world will spin
Oh, the circle never ends
So you know that I'll be coming home

Apopting Soldiers Update

In an earlier post I mentioned we put in to adopt 4 soldiers through the Adoptaplatoon organization. So far we have 3 soldiers now. There are several options you can choose to support our troops. We chose the pen pal option. Where you commit to sending a card or email once a week to each soldier. You can adopt 1 or up to 4 soldiers. We chose 4 because I figured we could do this as a family. We can also send packages too but committed to being a pen pal because I know this is something we can do all the time. Anyway we got 2 more troops today. They both are in the Army Infantry. Funny but I did not notice it till I mailed off a letter to each of them that the two we got today were in the same unit. :) I am so happy to do this! This is how we all can show our support for them. Sending a card once a week doesn't take much time out of our day. You may say what would I say to them? Even if you only say you are thinking of them and sign your name. You are letting them know we are proud of them and are praying for their safety. Doing something for someone you do not know personally to let them know they are not forgotten. No one wants war! But the men and women over there have a job to do... they are fighting for YOUR freedom and need your support. They are someone sons or daughters over there. You are supporting the soldier!

Moving Wall coming to Broken Arrow Oklahoma

This is a video of the Moving Wall when it was in Poteau Oklahoma in 2006.
The moving wall is coming to Broken Arrow this month and we plan to go see it.

100% True

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10 When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.

11 Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

Good friends are like stars....... You don't always see them, But you know they are always there.

Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another,

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm herethan a whole truck load when I'm gone.

Happiness keeps You Sweet, Trials keep You Strong, Sorrows keep You Human, Failures keeps You Humble, Success keeps You Glowing, But Only God keeps You Going

Shadow Pupppets

This is really cool... thanks Mark for sending it.

Adopting Soldiers

We signed up to Adopt 4 Soldiers as pen pals. You sign up and give them your information and then they call you back to verify you are who you say you are. This is for the protection of the troops they do not just give out information on them like that. I sent in our information the other day and they called me tonight. You can choose from one to four troops and I chose four because I am going to make this something we can do as a family. We want to show our support for our troops. This is so cool! I would encourage everyone to do this! You could do one or two. All you have to do is send cards and email them and if you want to send packages you can do that too. The lady I talked to said she was sending my information to their home office and it would take about 4 weeks to get the contact information back. I am excited!

Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance

Rememberance of September 11th

As I consider what tomorrow brings it makes me remember many things. Tomorrow would have been my sister Sherrie's birthday. It also makes me think of what happened to America on that day in 2001. How we were attacked by terrorists.
I remember back when "Desert Storm"was going on. At that time we could show our support to our troops by writing to Any Service Member. I did this and sent packages with tapes I made with patriotic songs (mostly rock n roll songs) I conversed with many a soldiers that way. But after 2001 we were no longer able to write to any soldier. You had to have a specific name and address for security reasons. I completely understand why for the soldiers safety this had to change but still it saddens me to not be able to show them that we are behind them and support them. So I have been wanting to find different avenues to show our support for them.
One way... our homeschool support group takes names from the mom's in our group who have soldiers and we send packages. But there has to be more ways so I am going to research this and will post what I find on this blog at a later date.

Update:
I have decided to make a list on the side of my blog for ways to show your support. I will continue to add to the list as I find things.

My Favorite Jet~ The Harrier

Below is a really cool video on the Harrier. And here are some Links for videos on the Harrier
After you watch the Harrier Boom check out this one too. I really like this video too...JUMP

Flight Deck Man

This is pretty cool From darianryder on youtube.

Insane flight deck operations on an aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. Watch the Yellow Shirt "shooters" at work. In the first two launches are the man I have titled Flight Deck Man...the guy is either fearless or insane as he signals just under the aircraft wing and then ducks on launch of the jet!

Blackhawk

Since the hubby was a Blackhawk Crew Chief in the Army and I love Blackhawks. I thought this video was pretty cool...
